I have not written since May, clearly. I think all the time about how much I liked writing three things per kid, and how I wish I had not let this blog go. Alas, that's life-- the very busy life.
I store in my phone and in the kids' baby books cute things they say and do, but I would like to leave some record of it all here on this blog, as these sorts of updates were the original impetus for the blog.
So here goes..
At age 3, going on 4, here are some of the sweet things K says, which I want to remember:
- When you ask her to name a doll or stuffed animal, it's Jepsalot. I have no idea from where this comes!
- Pollen= pollend :)
- The air conditioning is the "hair conditioning." Can't blame her for being confused on that one!
- Past- tense verbs often suffer-- as in "broked" and "I winned!"
- An elastic is an "elaskik" and a basket is a "baskik."
- Caillou's cat Gilbert = 'Rilgert'
- Boobie traps = "boo boo traps"
- When we drive by the church where Carly was baptized, K shouts, "There's Carly's corch!"
- Playing restaurant is still the obsession, and when she is being a "wait- tree- ess" she decides on the whim what food she has. Sometimes it is just salad and coffee. And she will tell you, using play food or blocks, that it is "super duper hot."
- Bandaids= "banbaids"
- When looking at a picture of a baby-- or at a pic of herself or her sister from when they were teeny babies, she will say, "Oh, look! She's so born!" From hearing us say, "That is from when Carly was born," she must think born= teeny.
- Ghosts take on an interesting plural-- "ghostiz."
- In the Wizard of Oz, it's the "wicked old witch" instead of the wicked witch.
- Speaking of old, she learned the other day that her great- gram is 93. She said, "Wow, that's old." And then told me, "But you're old too. Are you gonna be 93?"
- She melted my heart when repeating-- but out of nowhere-- this line from Wizard: "I'm never gonna leave here again, because I love you all so much and there's no place like home."
- When we play castle and she wants to be the princess, she makes me the Queen and says, "Carly can be my puppy."
- She has cute double- negative-- "I'm not doin' nothin!"
- Cucumbers = "coon cumbers"
- Love the pronoun misuse on "I want she to go!"
- My favorite one of all is when she endearingly calls Carly "honey." She grabs her by the hand and says, "You can't get up on that box, honey." Or, "We are almost home, honey."
At age 23 months-- Carly:
Carly's language has been exploding for a while now, and she uses lots of mini- sentences.
- My favorite is the placement of "me" with anything-- "ME bath!" for I want a bath.
- She loves tacking on the person she is addressing. Lots of "Thank you, Mama" or "Night- night, Daddy!" And the BEST is, "Love you, Mama."
- She calls Kathryn "Kat," and now the rest of us have taken to doing the same!
- She learned early to say No, and it shows up wayyyyy too often, in typical toddler style.
- She has mastered, "Ewww! Yuck!" and utilizes it properly, referencing poops and the like
- Tells us when she has pooped and demands the diaper be changed. We should probably start potty training, butttttttt, we will see....
- Backpack = "bah- pah" and she wants to wear it herself each day when I pick her up
- Loves being stealthy, and will, when hiding, announce: "I hidey!" She has not figured out yet the whole point of hiding. :)
- Wants to tell you each time she sees the moon. "Look! Mama, moon!!"
- A few cute mispronunciations: slide= "lide"; pumpkin = "pum- pum"; hex= "heck"; cookie= "cacka"
- Loves flowers and coloring
- Tells herself "good girl!" when she does something right
- Is obsessed with "Ninnie" aka Minnie Mouse. If she as much as sees the Disney Castle on an ad or intro to a show or movie, she starts shouting out the Disney characters' names
- With her sister, loves racing around the house. Brings me a toy to use as a flag-- and along with me will do, "Mark... Set... Go!!" And as she runs, cheers for herself, "Go! Cah- yee! Go!"
- It's a total monkey- see, monkey- do when it comes to her big sis. She copies her like crazy, and it is so damn cute. The most recent emulation has been with the waitressing. Carly loves to take your order and bring you your goods. :)
- Carly has moves! Dances like a machine. She and K both especially love 'The Whip and Nae- Nae."
