It's May! And a mild one at that. We have been outside quite a bit, despite that it's been the worst pollen season that I can remember. I guess it's an extra bit of yuck attached to that seemingly eternal winter. K and C have been loving the outdoors and have been up to lots:
K:
- can add to her list of toddler- isms: "wait- tree- ess" instead of "waitress"; "I want you to talk about it" whenever you ask her a question and she is too tired or lazy to consider the answer or choose from some options; "What happened to his eyes?!" in regards to the fish she helps Dad clean and then we eat; "Mom, put your hand in! Super- readers to the rescue!!" when we watch Super- Why; "So- feel- ah" instead of Sophia; "Can you rub these bug bites?" instead of "scratch."
- is obsessed with playing wait- tree- ess. She brings over a book as your menu, and then says, "So, whattya want?" Regardless of what you say, lately she has had the retort: "I don't have that. I do have barbeque chicken and ginger ale and soda." Funny, considering she has never had soda!
- is taking her next level of swim lessons, and despite being a bit sheepish and hesitant the first week, is quite literally taking the full plunge now. She even loves to jump from the platform. This reminds me of how worried she was for who her teacher would be, as the form originally said Bella, but the instructor changed. She now asks about EVERYTHING, 'Who is the teacher?' And the funniest one is baptisms; we were looking at some pics of her and Carly's and a couple other baptisms, and when she sees the priest, she asks, "Who is the teacher there?" :)
C:
- is a Chatty- Kathy. Her cutest word is 'Deck- tah' for Dexter. And "Ka- ya" for Kathryn is awfully precious. She has also started to say her day care provider's name, and loves asking for bread. And with all the words she says, there is something so lovely still about how she articulates "BYYYYEE!"-- sort of like a valley girl.
- had her 15- month well- visit and was NOT at all happy about the occasion. This kid cried from start to finish-- through the measurements, the stethoscope checks, the ear checks-- you name it. C was not pleased to have someone poking around, despite that her doctor is oh- so- nice. She had to have two shots, but they didn't stand out as awful because she was already crying about merely having to lie down on the exam table. So funny because little C is usually super- sweet and funny and laid- back, but these colors were not out at this appointment. The doc, contrarily, WAS very happy with everything she evaluated-- especially with C's large vocabulary. She gained a pound and grew an inch since the last appointment, putting her at the 57th percentile for weight and the 29th for height. Love that chunk!
- is still a pretty good eater but is starting to have preferences. I miss the days when she would eat anything at all! She does not care for watermelon or pineapple, and she lets you know when she is pissed about the snack you have given her. C loves cheese and bread but we are careful not to let this be the constant fall- back. Some nights, though, it's just easy! We will see how manymore predilections develop. One thing she loves-- duh!- is ice cream. It's the season again-- and if we go, we get one for K. C demands many bites.
