C:
- is 8- months- old today. Now that just seems silly- impossible. She's nearly as old as the length of a pregnancy. At this juncture, she still loves oatmeal cereal and all her baby foods, but is feeding herself Cheerios too. She sleeps well and is very intrigued by the shows K watches. The theme to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse just astounds her.
- is quite the thumb- sucker at night. I was happy she had willingly given up her paci, but I worry now about getting her to stop the thumb stuff!
- is having fun in a get- ready- to- crawl pose, but still shows little interest in giving it a go. She's a jump- a- holic and loves "standing" (with assistance) but crawling/ scooting doesn't seem to be her thing. She does, however, love being in the walker, and while she can only touch with her tip- toes, she likes moving around as much as she can in it.
K:
- has switched from yet another TV show obsession to another. Now we are onto Mickey. Bye- bye Bubble Guppies. I swear, she has some of the episodes memorized-- and we let her watch the show only at night. She knows that the magic words at the beginning are "Meezka, Moozka, Mickey Mouse!" and has certain segments down pat, as she often beats Mickey to it in terms of punch lines and answers. And at the end, before MM can shout it, K yells: See ya reaaal soon!
- also is on a hot dancing streak. Loves showin' 'dem moves to Hot Diggity Dog and the Mickey Theme and a few other tunes. Sometimes she will exhort me to dance, and at other times, she strongly admonishes me NOT to.
- has, we think, been experiencing some night- terrors. Poor thing has woken up a few nights completely out of sorts screaming for us. When we've asked her the next day about it, she's told us "a scary monster came in." And the other day said the scary monster was "touching her fingers." Another time she informed us that the monsters were outside the window. We know it's a normal phase, but I still feel terrible. Giving her lots of TLC-- and letting her know Daddy has exterminated the house of all monsters. Joe does this whole bit before bed where he tells the monsters to walk single- file down the stairs and leave the house and then leave Franklin. K seems to buy it, but sometimes it's not enough to minimize the night- terrors. Poor girl! Luckily, she is easy to get back to sleep when she's woken up.
