- is a babble- machine. Lots of "da da da" and "ah- gah!" and "ba ba ba," and, our favorite, "hey- eeee!" a la Fonzie.
- ate her first "real" (non- pureed) food on Aug 31, in the form of Cheerios. Mostly she just swished them around at first and didn't know what to do beyond spitting them out, but has made some good progress on chewing.
- is all done with the beloved paci it seems, in favor of the thumb. Never thought we would see the day, as the paci was quite an addiction! But now she seems to want nothing to do with her former prized- possession, and when she lies down, the little thumb takes the pacifier's place. It's rather cute seeing her suck her teensie- weensie thumb.
K:
- is, shock of shocks, (we think) OVER her fave show Caillou. I know-- the impossible CAN happen! The newest phase is Bubble Guppies, and the cutest part is that K can't seem to say the name correctly. Thus, we usually hear "Gubble Buppies." She asks almost every night, 'Can I go watch Gubble Buppies in bed upstairs?" She just knows we don't want to watch it on the TV in the living room.
- getting quite good with her coloring. She now demands to use specific colors when she used to be fine with any crayons we gave her, and has started tracing her hand (though not well....). She loves her Bubble Guppies coloring book. This kid goes in and out of these phases like clock- work.
- Has started using a couple phrases that I know she learned from me but I wish she didn't. Ex: "Kathryn, why is there chalk all over the chair?" "Mommy, that happens!" Ex 2: "Why don't you want to get your jammies on?" "'Cause I don't!" I'd started telling her some things just "happen" when she would stump me on a "why" question. And I'd use "Cause I don't!" when she would ask me things like "Why you not wanna go to Shaw's?" and I'd be fed up with the line of questioning. Didn't think she would throw either back in my face!
