Damn, it's been a while! I keep thinking of this blog-- when one of the kids does something funny or cute or noteworthy-- and I keep wanting to update it. Despite that I have oodles of work awaiting, there is no time like the present! I shan't wait any longer.
It's been the longest and grossest winter I can remember, and finally spring is showing itself. The birds are chirping, the kids are playing outside, and the dog can finally run around the yard. So what have C and K been up to?
C:
- on March 23rd officially became a walker! This was a long time in the making, as she had been furniture- cruising for months, and had even gone on these little 5 or 6 step jaunts... before summarily plunking her little bum down. We would encourage her to take more steps, but inevitably she would decide she wasn't ready. And then on one Monday night, we were doing the usual-- Joe seated about 20 feet away from me, as we watched Carly walk back and forth in little bits. But this time, she kept going... and going.. and going... all around the house. And she's barely stopped since.
- is saying lots of words and has become quite the chatter- box. Just a few along an expansive vocabulary: hi, daddy, mama, dog, yes, cheese, eyes, done, down, caillou, book, burp, more, ball, and up. It's so neat to watch her imitate our words-- and sometimes, it's dangerous! Having an older sister who is fascinated with the likes of "poop" means that Carly can even say "butt."
- hates bedtime now that she knows the party is over, and stalls just like her big sister does. Even the mere mention of "night- night" makes her cry.
K:
- loves to feed the dog. Of course we must oversee to make sure that she doesn't overfeed the poor thing, but K has made it her daily mission to get the scoop and pour out his kibble, and then get him some water. She cracks up when he runs to his bowl and eats at warp speed, and both kids laugh heartily when he runs fast and bum- rushes the wall or fireplace. For Kathryn, it's a love - hate relationship with Dexter, as one minute she chases him around, and the next she is yelling at him to leave her alone.
- has so many cute toddlerisms that I need to record here. I hope she does not fix these fumbles any time soon, but I know she will :( They are just so pure and sweet: "banbaids"; "ready... setty... go"; "rice Christmas treats"; "I was woozin that!" and the general use of a "w" for a "y"-- also as in "woga"; "I don't want she to get it!"; the use of "f" for "sp"-- as in "foon" and "Don't fill that milk!"; "Don't lost it!" instead of "lose"; and my favorites: "Kaf- wyn" for her first name, and "D'Agogino" for her last.
- Other little cute things: "Great idea!"; "So- and- so is not gonna be so happy!"; "I'm gonna go lick her like a puppy... and she can laugh... at me" (that one was yesterday and I recorded it because I just loved how weird the action was, but then the proclamation that Carly WILL laugh; "here-- this will make you feel better" (with some random thing whenever someone is not feeling well); "I LOVE (insert any thing- of- the- moment)" followed sometimes by "I don't like her/him/it." She does this with her sister and the dog a lot. :)
